As we embark upon the 2010-2011 academic year, I want to welcome you to what may seem like your fastest year of school yet. The many demands placed upon you during your senior year will reveal much about your character and academic mettle. As with most of my Advanced Placement students in the past, the class of 2011 will be comprised of those who will rise to the challenges that they will encounter, while others will choose the path of least resistance and succumb to the dreaded scourge of "senioritis".
No matter what path you choose my goal remains steadfast. I will strive to replicate from September 7, 2010 to our last day regular day of class on June 10, 2011, in high school, the demands you will no doubt encounter next year at your institution of higher learning.
Being introduced to the rigors of a college level class while in high school may seem a bit daunting, but I strongly believe that the net benefit is well worth the effort. My grandfather told me when I was your age that “success” only comes before “work” in the dictionary. These were the words spoken by a man who I deeply respected; who was trying to correct the missteps of a know-it-all, headstrong teen. His words still resonate with me today and I share them with you for a reason. I am convinced that no matter where you are today academically, if you commit yourself whole-heartedly to your studies and make school your number one priority the vista of opportunity that awaits you will greatly surpass your wildest expectations.
It is equally important for you to know that I am committed to assisting you on the 2010-2011 academic journey in anyway I can. I am always available after school to meet with students and I urge students and parents to contact me via email at nantonucci@sachem.edu at anytime.
I look forward to a productive and memorable year working with each and every one of you. Respectfully,
Mr. Nicholas Antonucci Social Studies Department Sachem High School East
This website will serve as a repository of documents you will need throughout the year. So I advise my students to check this site regularly for updates. In the event of inclement weather I will also post missed class assignments here as well.
